Abstract： Objective： To observe the effect of the therapy of fumigation and washing with Shujin Huoxue Prescription combined with extracorporeal shock wave on joint function recovery of patients with rotator cuff calcifying tendinitis. Methods：A total of 96 patients with rotator cuff calcifying tendinitis were randomly divided into two groups， with 48 cases in each group. The control group was treated with extracorporeal shock wave， and the observation group was additionally treated with fumigation and washing with Shujin Huoxue Prescription based on the treatment of the control group. The clinical effects and the scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS)，Constant-Murley (CMS) of pain (P)，Ability of Daily Living (ADL)， Range of Motion (ROM)， Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) and total score in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate was 93.75% in the observation group，higher than that of 79.17% in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference in the comparisons of scores of functional P，ADL，ROM，MMT and total score between the two groups (P＞0.05)；after treatment，the above scores were increased in both groups (P＜ 0.05)，and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference in the comparison of the VAS score between the two groups (P＞0.05)；after treatment，the VAS scores in both groups were decreased (P＜0.05)，and the VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of fumigation and washing with Shujin Huoxue Prescription combined with extracorporeal shock wave has a significant effect on rotator cuff calcifying tendinitis， which can relieve pain and restore shoulder joint function.
