Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Jiedu Huayu Runzao Decoction combined with Hydroxychloroquine Tablets for Sjogren syndrome (SS). Methods：A total of 97 cases of SS patients were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method， with 48 and 49 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with Hydroxychloroquine Tablets，and the observation group was additionally treated with Jiedu Huayu Runzao Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for one month. Clinical effects and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Before and after treatment，serum immune indexes， saliva flow rates，and quantity of tears in the two groups were compared. Results：The total effective rate was 93.88% in the observation group， higher than that of 79.17% in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of saliva flow rate and the quantity of tears between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，the saliva flow rates and the quantity of tears in both eyes in the two groups were increased (P＜0.05)，and saliva flow rate and quantity of tears in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR)， C- reactive protein (CRP)， and immunoglobulin G (IgG) between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，the levels of ESR，CRP，and IgG in the two groups were decreased (P＜0.05)，and the above levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 10.20% in the observation group，lower than that of 27.08% in the control group (P＜ 0.05). Conclusion： Jiedu Huayu Runzao Decoction combined with Hydroxychloroquine Tablets for SS can improve the clinical effect and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions.
