Clinical Effect of Modified Cangerzi Powder Combined with Carbocisteine Oral Solution on Sinusitis and Its Effect on Expressions of Serum IFN- γ and IL- 8 in Children
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of modified Cangerzi Powder combined with Carbocisteine Oral Solution on sinusitis and its effect on levels of serum interferon- γ (IFN- γ) and interleukin-8 (IL-8) in children. Methods:A total of 80 children with sinusitis were selected and divided into the combination group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was given Carbocisteine Oral Solution for treatment, and the combination group was additionally treated with oral administration of modified Cangerzi Powder in the form of decoction. The two groups were treated for two weeks. The clinical effects, scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for main symptoms,Fund-Mackay scores for CT scanning of sinusitis,Lund-Kennedy scores for nasal endoscopy, expression levels of serum IFN-γ and IL-8 and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate was 95.00% in the combination group, and 75.00% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores for main symptoms, including nasal obstruction, headache, sneezing and running nose were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above four VAS scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of Fund- Mackay and Lund- Kennedy in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the serum IFN- γ levels in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the IL- 8 levels were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the serum IFN- γ level in the combination group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05),and the IL- 8 level was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). During treatment, the incidence of adverse reactions was 10.00% and 12.5% in the control group, there being no significance in the difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of modified Cangerzi Powder combined with Carbocisteine Oral Solution for sinusitis in children can significantly improve the clinical symptoms and signs, effectively control the inflammatory responses of the body and has a better curative effect than that of single western medicine for treatment.
