Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Niaoduqing Granules for chronic glomerulonephritis (CGN) with spleen- kidney qi deficiency and water- dampness syndrome. Methods： A total of 76 cases of CGN patients were screened and divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method， with 38 cases in each group. Both groups were given routine treatment；the control group was additionally treated with Valsartan Capsules，and the treatment group was additionally treated with Niaoduqing Granules based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for four months. The clinical effects， and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and kidney function levels were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 89.47% in the treatment group and 65.79% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of 24- hour urine protein，urea nitrogen and serum creatinine between the two groups (P＞ 0.05)；After treatment，the levels of 24-hour urine protein，urea nitrogen and serum creatinine in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above indexes in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of TCM syndromes such as soreness in lumbar vertebra，fatigue and lack of strength，poor appetite，sloppy stool，frequent urination，edema， and inhibited urination between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after treatment， the scores of the above syndromes in the two groups were significantly decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜ 0.05)， and the scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： Based on the routine treatment of western medicine， Niaoduqing Granules can significantly enhance the clinical effect，and effectively improve the kidney function and TCM syndromes of patients.
