Abstract：Objective：To observe the curative effect of Shenxiong Wulingsan Decoction for traumatic brain edema. Methods： A total of 60 cases of patients with traumatic brain edema were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with routine western medicine， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Shenxiong Wulingsan Decoction from the second day after the injury. Both groups were treated for two weeks. The Glasgow Coma Score (GCS)，cerebral edema conditions，and liver and kidney function were compared between the two groups before treatment and after 4 days，7 days，and 14 days of treatment. Results：Before treatment and after 4 days and 7 days of treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of GCS scores between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after 4 days，7 days，and 14 days of treatment，GCS scores in the two groups were gradually increased (P＜0.05)，and the GCS score after 14 days of treatment in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment and after 4 days and 7 days of treatment， there were no significant differences being found in the comparison of brain edema volume and midline shift between the two groups (P＞0.05)；after 4 days，7 days，and 14 days of treatment，brain edema volume and midline shift in the two groups were gradually decreased (P＜0.05)，and the brain edema volume and midline shift after 14 days of treatment in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). During the treatment， no severe liver and kidney dysfunction was found in the two groups. Conclusion： Shenxiong Wulingsan Decoction combined with western medicine for traumatic brain edema can promote the absorption of brain edema and improve consciousness disorders of patients，with a significant curative effect.
