Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Shengji Xiaodu Experience Prescription assisting western medicine for helicobacter pylori (Hp) positive peptic ulcer (PU). Methods:A total of 140 cases of patients with Hp positive PU were prospectively included and divided into the control group and the trial group according to the random number table method, with 70 cases in each group. The control group was simply treated with western medicine, and the trial group was additionally treated with Shengji Xiaodu Proved Prescription based on the treatment of the control group. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, endoscopic mucosal scores, epidermal growth factor levels, and trefoil factor-2 levels were compared before and after treatment between the two groups; Hp clearance rate after treatment and recurrence rate during follow- up were compared. Results: Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of TCM syndrome scores between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment,TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05),and the score in the trial group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of endoscopic mucosal morphology, thickness, and gland density between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of endoscopic mucosal morphology, thickness, and gland density in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05), and the above scores in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of epidermal growth factors and trefoil factor- 2 between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of epidermal growth factors and trefoil factor- 2 in the two groups were increased (P<0.05),and the above levels in the trial group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The Hp clearance rate in the trial group was 95.38% , higher than that of 80.30% in the control group (P<0.05). The recurrence rate during follow-up was 11.29% in the trial group, lower than that of 28.30% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Shengji Xiaodu Proved Prescription assisting western medicine for patients with Hp positive PU can effectively relieve clinical symptoms, promote mucosal healing, improve Hp eradication rate, and help prevent the recurrence of ulcer. Its mechanism can be related to the better inhibition of synthesis and secretion of epidermal growth factors and trefoil factor-2.
