Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Zhitong Xiaoyan Prescription and Chinese herbal washing combined with pelvic treatment instrument on chronic pelvic inflammatory disease (CPID). Methods：A total of 108 CPID patients were divided into the study group and the control group by random number table method，with 54 patients in each group. The control group received pelvic treatment instrument， and the study group received Zhitong Xiaoyan Prescription and pelvic treatment instrument. The duration of treatment was four months. The clinical effects and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups， and the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results：Before treatment，there was no significant difference in the TCM syndrome scores between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment， the TCM syndrome scores of lower abdominal pain， lumbosacral distension， excessive leukorrhea and menstrual disorders were decreased in the two groups (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 96.30% in the study group，higher than that of 83.33% in the control group. The incidence of adverse reactions was 7.41% in the study group and 9.26% in the control group，there being no significant significance between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Zhitong Xiaoyan Prescription and Chinese herbal washing combined with pelvic treatment instrument has a definite therapeutic effect on CPID，which can effectively improve the clinical symptoms of patients with high safety.
