Clinical Study on Shashen Maidong Decoction Assisting Gefitinib for Senile Patients with Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer with Dual Deficiency of Qi and Yin Syndrome
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Shashen Maidong Decoction assisting Gefitinib for senile patients with advanced non- small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with dual deficiency of qi and yin syndrome, and its effect on coagulation function. Methods: A total of 82 cases of senile patients with advanced epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated NSCLC were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Gefitinib, and the observation group was treated with Gefitinib combined with Shashen Maidong Decoction. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and coagulation function indexes were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. The clinical effects and safety in the two groups were evaluated. Results: The objective response rate was 82.93% in the observation group, higher than that of 58.54% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P< 0.05),and the TCM syndrome scores in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P< 0.05). After treatment, the prothrombin time (PT),fibrinogen (FIB),and D-dimer (D-D) in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and thrombin time (TT) were shortened (P<0.05);the indexes of PT,FIB,and D-D in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05),and APTT and TT were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of nausea and vomiting in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05), and the incidence of thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, diarrhoea, and peripheral neurotoxicity was lower than that in the control group, but the difference showed no significance (P>0.05). Conclusion: Shashen Maidong Decoction assisting Gefitinib for senile patients with NSCLC with dual deficiency of qi and yin syndrome has a definite curative effect, and can reduce the abnormal coagulation function caused by Gefitinib ,with high safety.
