Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of needle retention of scalp acupuncture combined with Upper Limb Tension Test for the post-stroke hand dysfunction patients. Methods：A total of 80 cases of patients with post-stroke hand dysfunction were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the simple random grouping method， with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine medication and rehabilitation training of upper limb tension test， and the treatment group was additionally treated with scalp acupuncture based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated five times a week for four consecutive weeks. Before and after treatment，Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS) was applied to grade spasticity，and Fugl- Meyer Assessment (FMA) was used to assess hand function rehabilitation in the two groups. Results：Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of MAS grading between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，MAS grading in the two groups was improved (P＜0.05)，and the improvement in the treatment group was better than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of FMA scores between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，FMA scores in the two groups were increased (P＜0.05)，and the score in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion： Needle retention of scalp acupuncture combined with upper limb tension test has a significant effect in treating post-stroke hand dysfunction.
