Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Taohong Siwu Decoction combined with closed reduction and external fixation on tibiofibular fractures. Methods ： A total of 124 patients with traumatic limb closed fracture were selected and randomly divided into the study group and the control group，with 62 cases in each group. The control group was additionally treated with closed reduction and external fixation，and the study group was additionally treated with Taohong Siwu Decoction. The visual analogue scale (VAS) of pain score，degree of limb swelling，hemorheology indexes and Generic Quality of Life Inventory (GQOLI-74)were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the total effective rate was 93.5% in the study group and 82.3% in the control group， the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment， the VAS pain score and limb circumference difference in both groups were lowe decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above two indexs in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜ 0.05). After treatment，the levels of erythrocyte sedimentation rate，hematocrit，whole blood viscosity and plasma viscosity in the two groups were all decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜ 0.05)，and the above levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of physical function， psychological function， social function and living status of GQOLI-74 in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Taohong Siwu Decoction combined with closed reduction and external fixation has a significant curative effect on tibiofibular fracture，which can help to improve limb function and hemorheology status of patients and improve their quality of life.
