Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Qiju Dihuang Pills for evaporative dry eye due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with evaporative dry eye due to MGD were numbered according to their visit order and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drops, and the observation group was additionally treated with the oral administration of Qiuju Dihuang Pills based on the treatment of the control group. The treatment course of both groups lasted for four weeks. Clinical effects, symptom scores, and the levels of tear break-up time (BUT) and Schirmer test (SIT) were observed and compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 93.33% in the observation group and 70.00% in the control group, the comparison between the two groups showed significance in the difference (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of ocular symptom scores between the two groups (P> 0.05). After two and four weeks of treatment, ocular symptom scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time points (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of BUT and SIT between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of BUT and SIT in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the two indexes in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions:Qiju Dihuang Pills for evaporative dry eye due to MGD can further improve clinical effects, and improve tear film stability and basal tear secretion.
