Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Erhuang Mudan Decoction for sequelae of pelvic inflammatory disease (SPID) and its effect on levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8)，monocyte chemotactic protein 1 (MCP-1)，and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in serum. Methods：A total of 80 cases of SPID patients were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Gynecologic Qianjin Tablets， and the observation group was treated with Erhuang Mudan Decoction. The clinical effects， scores of quality of life，levels of inflammatory factors including IL-8，MCP-1，and MMP-2，hemorheology indexes，and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 92.50% in the observation group and 75.00% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of IL-8，MCP-1，and MMP-2 in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the levels of IL-8， MCP-1，and MMP-2 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the levels of whole blood high viscosity， whole blood middle viscosity， whole blood low viscosity，plasma viscosity，and erythrocyte sedimentation rates in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above indexes in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of physiology，psychology， social relations，and environment in WHOQOL-BREF in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). There were two cases (5.00%) of gastric discomfort in the control group，and no significant adverse reaction in the observation group；there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion： Erhuang Mudan Decoction in treating SPID can improve the clinical efficacy， which can effectively reduce levels of inflammatory factors in serum， improve the body's high coagulation and viscosity state，and enhance quality of life，with good safety.
