Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Qing'er Tongqiao Decoction on chronic otitis media and its effect on quality of life in patients. Methods：A total of 110 cases of patients with chronic otitis media were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the study group，with 55 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Cefalexin Tablets，and the study group was treated with Qing'er Tongqiao Decoction. The levels of inflammatory factors including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)， C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in serum，scores of quality of life，and symptoms and signs scores before and after treatment and the clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 98.2% in the study group，higher than that of 83.6% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of TNF-α，CRP and IL-6 in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above levels in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of limited daily activities， emotional abnormality， utilization of medical resources， and physical performance，as well as the total scores of Quality of Life Scale in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the study group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the scores of symptoms and signs including hearing drop， ear stuffiness， ear pain， middle ear effusion， and tinnitus in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the study group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Qing'er Tongqiao Decoction for chronic otitis media can reduce levels of inflammatory factors，effectively improve symptoms and signs and quality of life in patients，and improve clinical effects.
