Abstract： This paper introduces the clinical experience of Professor WANG Zhanglian in treating xerophthalmia with acupuncture therapy. Professor WANG Zhanglian believes that there are many pathogenic factors inside and outside for xerophthalmia，so it cannot be treated only from the perspective of yin deficiency，and it is necessary to combine meridian differentiation and syndrome differentiation to clarify the pathogenesis. In clinical practice，the treatment should be based on the combination of disease differentiation，meridian differentiation and syndrome differentiation. For the treatment based on disease differentiation，the “nine needling methods of eyes” on the experience point group is often applied；for the treatment based on meridian differentiation， the acupuncture points of the meridian and collateral where the lesions of inner canthus，outer canthus，upper and lower parts of eyes are located are often selected；the treatment based on syndrome differentiation attaches importance to selecting points based on vigorous liver- gallbladder fire syndrome， stomach fire flaming upward syndrome， liver- kidney yin deficiency syndrome，fluid and blood damage syndrome，and wind-heat invading the exterior syndrome. When combined with manipulation，and proper supplementation and draining，a good curative effect can be obtained.
