Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of therapy of Yangsheng Yizhi Decoction combined with Memantine Hydrochloride Oral Solution on Alzheimer's disease in seniors. Methods： A total of 110 seniors with Alzheimer's disease were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method，with 55 cases in each group. The control group was given Memantine Hydrochloride Oral Solution for treatment， and the treatment group was treated with Memantine Hydrochloride Oral Solution combined with Yangsheng Yizhi Decoction. Before and after treatment，the scores of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Activity of Daily Living (ADL) scale，and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and content of homocysteine (Hcy) in plasma were compared between the two groups； the clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions in both groups were evaluated. Results：During treatment，105 cases in total finished the experiment with 5 cases dropped out，and that was，finally 52 cases in the treatment group and 53 cases in the control group. The total effective rate was 84.62% in the treatment group，higher than that of 66.04% in the control group (P＜ 0.05). After treatment，the scores of ADL and MMSE in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the TCM syndrome scores and Hcy content in plasma were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)；the scores of ADL and MMSE in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05)；and the TCM syndrome score and Hcy content in plasma were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞ 0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Yangsheng Yizhi Decoction combined with Memantine Hydrochloride Oral Solution has a definite curative effect on Alzheimer’s disease in seniors，which can effectively improve the cognitive function and activities of daily living of patients with good safety.
