Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect and safety of Compound Xuanju Capsules for late- onset hypogonadism in males. Methods:A total of 120 cases of patients with late-onset hypogonadism were selected as the study subjects and were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Andriol, and the observation group was treated with Compound Xuanju Capsules combined with Andriol. The clinical effects and adverse reactions in the two groups were compared. The levels of sex hormones, the scores of the Aging Males' Symptom (AMS) Scale and International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5),and the glutamic-oxalacetic transaminase, blood lipids, blood glucose, total prostate specific antigen (TPSA) and prostate volume in the two groups were compared before and after treatment. Results: Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of levels of follicle estrogen (FSH),luteinizing hormone (LH),progesterone (P),prolactin (PRL),total testosterone (TT),and estradiol (E 2 ) between the two groups (P>0.05);after treatment, the levels of FSH,LH,P,and PRL in the two groups were decreased (P< 0.05),and the levels of TT and E 2 were increased (P<0.05);the levels of FSH,LH,P,and PRL in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05),and the levels of TT and E 2 were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the symptom scores of AMS between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the symptom scores of AMS in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05),and the scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the IIEF-5 scores between the two groups (P> 0.05). After treatment, the IIEF-5 scores in the two groups were increased (P<0.05),and the score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose,TPSA,and prostate volume between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the levels of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose,TPSA,and prostate volume between the two groups (P>0.05). After a six-month follow-up,the overall satisfaction rate of the improvement of quality of life after treatment was 93.33% in the observation group, which was higher than that of 81.67% in the control group (P<0.05). During treatment, there was no serious adverse reaction in the two groups. Conclusion: Compared with using Andriol alone, the combination of Compound Xuanju Capsules and Andriol for late-onset hypogonadism in males can better improve clinical symptoms, hormone levels in males, and patient satisfaction rates.
