Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of phlegm-dissolving and masses-dissipating method combined with fire needling therapy for cystic acne. Methods:A total of 120 cases of patients with cystic acne were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Viaminate Capsules and fire needling therapy, and the observation group was treated with phlegm-dissolving and masses-dissipating method combined with fire needling therapy. Clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated. The scores of symptoms and signs, the incidence of adverse reactions, the recurrence rates, and the levels of inflammatory factors in serum were compared between the two groups. Visia facial image analyzer was used for the quantitative analysis of facial areas. The routine blood test, the urine test, and the detection of liver and kidney function were carried out. Results:The total effective rate was 95.00% in the observation group, higher than that of 83.33% in the control group (P<0.05). Before and after treatment, there were no significant differences being found in the comparisons of the indexes in the routine blood test, the urine test, and the detection of liver and kidney function between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of interleukin-4 (IL-4),interleukin-8 (IL-8),and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the levels of IL-4,IL-8,and TNF-α in serum in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The values of characteristics of facial redness at the second, fourth, and eighth weeks of treatment in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05),and the values in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time points (P< 0.05). The scores of symptoms and signs at the second, fourth, and eighth weeks of treatment in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05),and the scores of symptoms and signs in the observation group were lower than those in the control group at the same time points (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions and the recurrence rates in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The phlegm- dissolving and masses- dissipating method combined with fire needling therapy has a significant curative effect in the treatment of cystic acne, which can improve the condition of facial lesions in patients and reduce serum inflammatory factor levels with high safety.
