Abstract:Ulcerative colitis is a chronic inflammatory intestinal disease that belongs to the categories of diarrhea, dysentery, and hemafecia in Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine holds that the lung and the large intestine are closely related in terms of meridian and collateral, physiology, and pathology, and proposes to treat intestinal diseases from the perspective of the lung. This article discusses the feasibility of the lung-based treatment of ulcerative colitis from the perspectives of the correlation between the lung and large intestine meridians, the diffusion and descent of qi movement, body fluid metabolism, and modern gut-lung axis theory, and proposes new diagnostic and treatment ideas for ulcerative colitis.
