Abstract： Formulas of Xiexin Decoction Types were designed by ZHANG Zhongjing for stuffiness syndrome. The five formulas of Xiexin Decoction can treat the stuffiness syndrome of cold and heat in complexity， but there are differences and connections between each other. By discussing the pathogenesis，analyzing prescriptions and medicines，and combining with the experience of physicians of the past dynasties，the five formulas are analyzed in the paper. It is believed that Dahuang Huanglian Xiexin Decoction treats stuffiness caused by invisible pathogenic heat accumulating in the heart，and Fuzi Xiexin Decoction treats stuffiness caused by the binding of invisible pathogenic heat and the decline of kidney yang in the middle energizer. Banxia Xiexin Decoction，Shengjiang Xiexin Decoction and Gancao Xiexin Decoction treat stuffiness caused by spleen-stomach weakness. In terms of pathogenesis，the syndrome of Banxia Xiexin Decoction is complicated with turbid phlegm，and the syndrome of Shengjiang Xiexin Decoction is complicated with fluid retention， and the syndrome of Gancao Xiexin Decoction is complicated with deficiency and exuberance of the spleen and stomach； the weakness of the spleen and stomach is gradually aggravated among the three complicated syndromes.
