Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Banxia Xiexin Decoction combined with Trimebutine Maleate Tablets for functional dyspepsia (FD). Methods：A total of 96 cases of FD patients of liver constraint and spleen deficiency complicated with cold and heat in complexity type were randomly divided into the control group and the treatment group，with 48 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Trimebutine Maleate Tablets， and the treatment group was treated with modified Banxia Xiexin Decoction combined with Trimebutine Maleate Tablets. Both groups were treated with medication for four weeks. Before and after treatment， traditional Chinese medicine syndrome scores， and levels of gastrin (GAS)，motilin (MTL)，5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and nitric oxide (NO) in serum were compared between the two groups. The clinical effects were compared between the two groups. Results：After fourweek treatment，the total effective rate in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group， there being no significance in the difference (P＞0.05). The scores of distending pain in stomach duct， stuffiness and fullness in stomach duct，belching and sour regurgitation，bitter taste in the mounth and dry mouth， torpid intake， and anxiety and depression in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P＜0.05)，the six scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜ 0.05). The levels of GAS，5- HT and NO in the two groups were lower than those before treatment，and MTL levels were higher than those before treatment，differences being significant (P＜0.05). The levels of GAS，5-HT and NO in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group，and MTL level was higher than that in the control group，differences being significant (P＜0.05). There was no serious adverse reactions in the two groups during treatment. Conclusion：Modified Banxia Xiexin Decoction combined with Trimebutine Maleate Tablets can effectively improve clinical symptoms of FD patients of liver constraint and spleen deficiency complicated with cold and heat in complexity type， improve gastric motility， and promote gastric emptying，with good safety.
