Abstract: Objective: To understand the distribution and drug resistance of methicillin- sensitive Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) strains in Yongkang city, and to screen out Chinese herbs with better antibacterial effect through in vitro antibacterial experiments,so as to lay the foundation for the development of new antibacterial drugs. Methods:MSSA and MRSA strains were isolated from hospital laboratory, and 7 kinds of Chinese herbal extracts were prepared for MSSA and MRSA bacteriostatic experiment and analysis. Results: From October 2020 to September 2022, a total of 208 strains of MRSA and 586 strains of MSSA were detected, mainly from sputum, secretions, pus and blood. Among them, MRSA was completely resistant to Penicillin G and Oxacillin, and completely sensitive to Tigacycline, Vancomycin, Teicolanin and Linezolid. MSSA was completely sensitive to Oxaillin, Tigacycline, Vancomycin, Teicolanin and Linezolid. Water extracts and organic extracts of the 7 Chinese herbs had antibacterial effects on Staphylococcus aureus, but the antibacterial effects on organic extracts of Fraxinus hupehensis were the best, and the minimal inhibitory concentraction (MIC) values against local MRSA ranged from 640 μg/mL to 1 280 μg/mL. Conclusion: Vancomycin-resistant MRSA strains were not found in Yongkang City, and Vancomycin,Teicoplanin and Linezolid could still be used as the preferred drugs for treating MSSA and MRSA infections. In vitro bacteriostatic experiments of 7 Chinese herbal extracts showed that the organic extract of Fraxinus hupehensis had a good antibacterial effect on MRSA, and may have the value of exploring as a new antibacterial drug.
