Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Modified Zhizhu Decoction combined with catgut embedment and biofeedback on unrelaxed pelvic floor syndrome (UPFS)- induced constipation. Methods: A total of 80 UPFS- induced constipation patients of qi deficiency type were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method , with 40 patients in each group. The control group was simply given biofeedback training for treatment, and the observation group was additionally treated with Modified Zhizhu Decoction combined with catgut embedment based on the treatment of the control group. With 10 days as a course of treatment, the two groups were treated for 2 tourses. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated;clinical symptom scores of constipation, anorectal pressure and pelvic floor electromyography levels were compared before and after treatment between the two groups, and the occurrence of adverse reactions was observed. Results: The total effective rate was 95.00% in the observation group, higher than that of 80.00% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of defecation time, defecation interval, defecation effort, anal distension and persistent sensation of defecation and the total scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above symptom scores and the total score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the anal canal resting pressure, maximum systolic pressure and threshold of defecation sensation in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment, and the maximum tolerance was increased when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05);the anal canal resting pressure, maximum systolic pressure and threshold of defecation sensation in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the maximum tolerance in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the vitality value, maximum peak value and work value of pelvic floor electromyography in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above values in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of Modified Zhizhu Decoction combined with catgut embedment and biofeedback has a significant effect on the treatment of UPFS- induced constipation patients of qi deficiency type, which can improve the symptoms of constipation and anorectal pressure, and enhance the levels of pelvic floor surface electromyography, with good safety.
