Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Yanggan Anshen Decoction combined with western medicine for bipolar disorder with syndrome of qi constraint transforming into fire. Methods: A total of 90 cases of patients with bipolar disorder were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group according to the parity method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine, and the observation group was additionally treated with Yanggan Anshen Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Both two groups were treated with a course of 6 weeks for 3 courses. The clinical effects, Hamilton Depression Scale- 17 (HAMD- 17) scores, Bech- Rafaelsen Mania Scale (BRMS) scores, onset time, and symptom control time were compared between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 88.89% in the observation group, higher than that of 68.89% in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of the scores of HAMD-17 and BRMS between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the scores of HAMD-17 and BRMS in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05),and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the onset time and symptom control time in observation group were shorter than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Yanggan Anshen Decoction combined with western medicine for bipolar disorder with syndrome of qi constraint transforming into fire can relieve the manic and depressive states of patients in a short time, which takes effect quickly, and the clinical symptoms can be effectively controlled with a definite curative effect.
