Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Ganhai Weikang Capsules combined with western medicine for elderly gastric ulcer of qi stagnation type and its effect on inflammatory factors. Methods：A total of 82 cases of senile patients with gastric ulcer of qi stagnation type were divided into the control group and the treatment group according to the random number table method， with 41 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine western medicine，and the treatment group was additionally treated with Ganhai Weikang Capsules based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment， the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores， indexes of gastrointestinal hormones including gastrin (GAS)， motilin (MTL)， somatostatin (SS)， and levels of inflammatory factors including interleukin (IL)- 17 and IL- 23 were compared between the two groups. The clinical effects， clearance rates of helicobacter pylori (Hp)， incidence of adverse reactions and recurrence rates were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate and Hp clearance rate were respectively 97.56% and 90.63% in the treatment group，higher than those of 82.93% and 70.00% in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， TCM syndrome scores of distending and pain in gastric cavity， fullness in chest and hypochondrium， belching and acid reflux， and dysphoria and irascibility in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and TCM syndrome scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of IL-17，IL-23， GAS and MTL in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and SS levels were increased (P＜0.05)；the levels of inflammatory factors，GAS and MTL in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and SS level was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 4.88% in the treatment group，lower than that of 21.95% in the control group (P＜0.05). After six-month follow-up，the recurrence rate was 5.00% in the treatment group，lower than that of 20.59% in the control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Ganhai Weikang Capsules combined with western medicine has a definite curative effect in treating elderly gastric ulcer of qi stagnation type， which can regulate the levels of gastrointestinal hormones in patients， inhibit the secretion of inflammatory factors，reduce the recurrence rates，and has high safety.
