Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of Shenshuaining Pills combined with Bailing Capsules for chronic renal failure (CRF) treated with hemodialysis. Methods： A total of 106 cases of CRF patients who were about to undergo hemodialysis were divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method，with 53 cases in each group. The control group was given routine treatment， and the observation group was additionally treated with Shenshuaining Pills combined with Bailing Capsules based on the treatment of the control group. The following indicators were compared between the two groups，namely traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores，oxidative stress indicators [superoxide dismutase (SOD)， glutathione peroxidase (GSH- Px)， and malondialdehyde (MDA)]，inflammatory indicators [high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP)，interleukin-6 (IL-6)，and tumor necrosis factor- α (TNF- α)]， intestinal mucosal barrier function indicators [D- lactic acid (D- LA)， diamine oxidase (DAO)， and lipopolysaccharides (LPS)]， renal function indicators [blood urea nitrogen (BUN)， serum creatintine (SCr)， endogenous creatinine clearance rate (CCr)]， and nutritional status indicators [hemoglobin (Hb)，prealbumin (PAB)，and blood albumin (ALB)]. Clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were evaluated in the two groups. Results：The total effective rate was 90.57% in the observation group，higher than that of 73.58% in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of MDA， hs- CRP， IL- 6， TNF- α， D- LA， DAO， LPS， BUN， and SCr， as well as the TCM syndrome scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the levels of SOD，GSH-Px，CCr，Hb，PAB，and ALB were increased (P＜0.05)；after treatment，the levels of inflammatory indicators，MDA，D-LA，DAO，LPS，BUN，and SCr，as well as TCM syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the levels of nutritional status indicators，SOD，GSH-Px，and CCr in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of positive reaction in observation group was 7.55% ， lower than that of 22.64% in control group (P＜0.05). Conclusion：Shenshuaining Pills combined with Bailing Capsules have a definite curative effect on patients with CRF treated with hemodialysis， which can alleviate patients' oxidative stress responses and micro inflammatory state and improve renal function， nutritional status， and intestinal mucosal barrier function，with high safety.
