Abstract： This paper introduces the clinical experience of Professor MAO Dexi in treating chest impediment with formulas. Professor MAO holds that qi-yin depletion is the root of deficiency in the origin in patients with chest impediment and heart pain， blood stasis is a persistent pathological state， and phlegm turbidity，congealing cold，and retained fluid are common clinical syndromes. In clinical practices， Guizhi Decoction combined with Shengmai San is used to boost qi and nourish yin； Guizhi Fuling Pills is usually used as a basic prescription for invigorating blood， dissolving stasis， and unblocking collaterals； Gualou Xiebai Mixture is used for dissolving phlegm and smoothing the chest； Mahuang Fuzi Xixin Decoction is used for dissipating cold and warming and unblocking；Linggui Shugan Decoction and Zhenwu Decoctioin are applying for warming yang and dissolving fluid retention.
