Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Pingchan Yizhi Decoction combined with routine therapy for Parkinson's disease dementia of liver-kidney deficiency type. Methods:A total of 120 cases of patients with Parkinson's disease dementia of liver- kidney deficiency type were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, with 60 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with routine therapy; the control group was treated with Donepezil Hydrochloride Tablets, and the treatment group was given the oral administration of Pingchan Yizhi Decoction. Both groups were treated for 12 weeks. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, Mini- Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores, and Unified-Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) scores were evaluated before and after treatment. The clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After 12 weeks of treatment, the clinical effect in the treatment group was better than that in the control group (P<0.05). TCM syndrome scores and UPDRS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). MMSE scores in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and MMSE score in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Based on routine therapy, the additional application of Pingchan Yizhi Decoction for patients with Parkinson's disease dementia of liver- kidney deficiency type can effectively relieve their clinical symptoms, improve their cognitive function, and reduce the severity of disease, with a low incidence of adverse reactions and good safety.
