Abstract：Objective：To observe the clinical effect of Jiangni Zaoshi Wendan Decoction on metabolic syndrome (MS) caused by second generation antipsychotics. Methods： A total of 60 MS patients complicated with schizophrenia were selected as the study objects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method， with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given the oral administration of Olanzapine，and the observation group was additionally treated with Jiangni Zaoshi Wendan Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. The two groups were given drug administration for 3 months. The clinical effects，incidence of adverse reactions，levels of systolic pressure (SP)， diastolic pressure (DP)， fast blood glucose (FBG)， triglyceride (TG) and highdensity lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)，and scores of Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results： The total effective rate was 96.77% in the observation group， and 79.31% in the control group， the difference being significant (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of levels of SP， DP， FBG， TG and HDL- C between the two groups (P＞0.05)； after treatment， the above 5 levels in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above 5 levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). Before treatment，there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of scores of PANSS and MMSE between the two groups (P＞0.05)；after treatment，the PANSS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the MMSE scores were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)； the PANSS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the MMSE score was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). There were no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two grups (P＞0.05). Conclusion： Jiangni Zaoshi Wendan Decoction has a better curative effect on MS caused by second generation antipsychotics，which can help improve the level of glycolipid metabolism and stabilize the blood pressure.
