Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Guishao Dihuang Pills combined with Hydrochlorothiazide for chronic renal failure (CRF) and its effects on kidney function. Methods: A total of 82 cases of patients with CRF were divided into two groups by random number table. The 41 cases in control group were treated with Hydrochlorothiazide, and the 41 cases in treatment group were treated with Guishao Dihuang Pills combined with Hydrochlorothiazide. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores and the levels of kidney function indicators and inflammatory factors were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions were evaluated in the two groups. Results:The effective rate was 95.12% in treatment group, higher than that of 78.05% in control group (P<0.05). After treatment,TCM syndrome scores and the levels of serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN),serum creatinine (SCr),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin 6 (IL-6), and C- reactive protein (CRP) in the two groups were decreased (P<0.05),and the levels of endogenous creatinine clearance rate (CCr) were increased (P<0.05); the levels of SCr, BUN, and inflammatory factors in treatment group were decreased compared with those in the control group (P<0.05),and CCr level in the treatment group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The rate of side reactions was 4.88% in treatment group, lower than that of 19.51% in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:Guishao Dihuang Pills combined with Hydrochlorothiazide has a definite curative effect in the treatment of CRF, which can relieve clinical symptoms, improve kidney function, and reduce the levels of inflammatory factors, with relatively high safety.
