Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of the therapy of Jieyu Anshen Decoction combined with Lithium Carbonate on cognitive function and quality of life in patients with bipolar manic episode. Methods： A total of 94 patients with bipolar manic episode were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method， with 47 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Lithium Carbonate，and the observation group was additionally treated with Jieyu Anshen Decoction combined with Lithium Carbonate. Both groups were treated for eight weeks. The scores of the Baker- Rafensen Mania Scale (BRMS)， Clinical General Impression- Severity- Bipolar disorder (CGI- s- BP)， Generic Quality of Life Inventory 74 (GQOLI- 74) and Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS) were compared before and after treatment between the two groups，and the clinical effects were also compared. Results：After treatment，the BRMS and CGI-s- BP scores in both groups were decreased (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The total effective rate was 87.23% in the observation group，higher than that of 65.96% in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，all scores of GQOLI-74 in the two groups were increased (P＜0.05)， and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，all RBANS scores and total scores were increased in both groups (P＜0.05)，and those in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜ 0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Jieyu Anshen Decoction combined with Lithium Carbonate has a better therapeutic effect on patients with bipolar manic episode than simple Lithium Carbonate， which can effectively improve the cognitive function and quality of life of patients.
