Abstract： Objective： To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Wenyang Lishui Huoxue Prescription combined with Xiangshan bonesetting manipulative reduction and fixation with splints on patients with swelling after distal radius fracture of edema due to yang deficiency type. Methods：A total of 70 patients with swelling after distal radius fracture of edema due to yang deficiency type were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method ， with 35 cases in each group. The control group was given the Xiangshan bonesetting manipulative reduction and fixation with splints， and the treatment group was additionally treated with Wenyang Lishui Huoxue Prescription based on the treatment of the control group. Before and after treatment， the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome score， degree of swelling and range of motion of wrist joints， radial height，union rates of fracture，clinical effects and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results： After treatment， there was no significant difference being found in the comparisons of total effective rate and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P＞0.05). After treatment，the range of motion of radial deviation，ulnar deviation，palmar flexion and extension of wrist joints and radial height in both groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the TCM syndrome scores were decreased (P＜0.05)； the TCM syndrome score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the union rates of fracture，range of motion of radial deviation，ulnar deviation，palmar flexion and extension of wrist joints and radial height were higher than those in the control group (P＜0.05). After 3 days， 1 week， 2 weeks and 4 weeks of treatment， the degree of swelling in both groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the degree of swelling in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group after treatment of 1 week，2 weeks and 4 weeks (P＜0.05). Conclusion：The therapy of Wenyang Lishui Huoxue Prescription combined with Xiangshan bonesetting manipulative reduction and fixation with splints has a definite curative effect on swelling after distal radius fracture of edema due to yang deficiency type，which can effectively remove the swelling，improve the range of motion，and prevent the loss of radial height with good safety.
