Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction combined with routine western medicine for unstable angina (UA) with syndrome of qi stagnation due to congealing cold combined phlegm stasis. Methods:Clinical data of 218 cases of UA patients with syndrome of qi stagnation due to congealing cold combined phlegm stasis were retrospectively analyzed and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to different treatment schemes, with 106 and 112 cases in each group respectively. The control group was treated with Clopidogrel Bisulfate Tablets, Aspirin Enteric- Coated Tablets, and Rosuvastatin Calcium Tablets, and the treatment group was additionally treated with Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 14 days. Clinical effects, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores of qi stagnation due to congealing cold combined phlegm stasis, symptom scores of angina, and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: The total effective rate was 88.68% in the treatment group and 75.89% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of TCM syndrome scores of lack of warmth in the limbs, fatigue and lack of strength,phlegm-drool and short breath, and palpitations between the two groups (P>0.05);after treatment, the above scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and each score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference being found in the comparison of grading scores of distention and oppression in the chest and rib- side, chest pain spreading to the back, and angina between the two groups (P>0.05);after treatment, the above grading scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and each score in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 22.64% in the treatment group and 28.57% in the control group, there being no significant difference being found between the two groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction combined with routine western medicine has a significant curative effect in the treatment of UA with syndrome of qi stagnation due to congealing cold combined phlegm stasis and can effectively relieve TCM syndromes and angina symptoms, and there were no adverse reactions that increased the medication.
