Experience of LONG Jiajun in Treating Alcoholic Cardiomyopathy from Theory of Seven Pathogenic Factors and Eight Emotions Based on Syndrome Differentiation and Treat⁃ ment
Abstract: This paper introduces Professor LONG Jiajun's clinical experience in treating alcoholic cardiomyopathy from the theory of seven pathogenic factors and eight emotions based on syndrome differentiation and treatment. Professor LONG attached great importance to the combination of examination of both disease and cause, and put forward the theory of external cause of "pathogenic toxin" and internal cause of "depressed emotion" leading to disease. He added "pathogenic toxin" to the seventh pathogenic factor on the basis of the six pathogenic factors, and added depressed emotion to the eighth emotions on the basis of the seven emotions, forming the theory of "seven pathogenic factors and eight emotions". According to this,he proposed the etiology and pathogenesis of alcoholic cardiomyopathy, and believed that the internal depression of vital activity was the main inducement, and the branch was the internal obstruction of the heart pulse by alcohol toxin, dampness toxin, heat toxin, stasis toxin, phlegm toxin, and the root was the deficiency of the heart yin and heart yang. The main treatment was to boost heart qi, nourish heart yin, warm heart yang, calm heart spirit and unblock heart collaterals, supplemented by clearing and dissolving damp- heat and alcoholic toxin, and promoting urination, dissolving phlegm and unblocking the bowels. He created LONG's Xinji Decoction and modified it to treat the disease.
