Effect of Application with Evodiae Fructus at Yongquan Point Combined with Aerobic Exercise on Senile Chronic Insomnia and Its Influence on Medicine Dosage
Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of application with Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan Point (KI 1) combined with aerobic exercise on senile chronic insomnia. Methods: A total of 86 patients with senile chronic insomnia were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The control group was treated with aerobic exercise, and the observation group was given application with Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan Point combined with aerobic exercise. The clinical effects in the two groups were observed, and the changes in the scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Assens Insomnia Scale (AIS),the levels of brain γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA),acetylcholine (ACH) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT),and the dosage of esazolam before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The total clinical effective rate was 90.70% in the observation group and 72.09% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, PSQI and AIS scores in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the PSQI and AIS scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment,the levels of GABA, ACH and 5- HT of brain in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above three levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the dosage of esazolam in the two groups was respectively decreased when compared with that before treatment (P<0.05),and the dosage in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of application with Fructus Evodiae at Yongquan Point combined with aerobic exercise has a definite therapeutic effect on senile chronic insomnia,which can promote the improvement of sleep quality,effectively regulate the levels of neurotransmitter and reduce the use of medicine for insomnia.
