Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of alternate treatment with Chinese medicine prescriptions for refractory duodenal ulcer. Methods: A total of 62 cases of patients with refractory duodenal ulcer of positive helicobacter pylori (Hp) complicated with liver depression and spleen deficiency were selected as the study objects, and were divided into the control group and the trial group according to the random number table method, with 31 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine of Amoxicillin combined with Rabeprazole, and the trial group was additionally given alternate treatment with Chinese medicine prescriptions of Yuyang Prescription and Tiaoshen Prescription based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 6 weeks. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores were compared before and after treatment between the two groups, and the curative effect of gastroscopy,Hp eradication rates and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the effective rate was 83.33% in the trial group, higher than that of 56.67% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the total effective rate was 96.67% in the trial group and 93.33% in the control group, there being no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). After treatment, the scores of TCM syndromes and the total scores in the trial group were decreased (P<0.05), and the scores of TCM syndromes including distending pain in hypochondrium and abdomen, depression and anger, poor appetite, sloppy stool, acid reflux, and gastric upset as well as the total scores in the control group were decreased (P<0.05);the scores of TCM syndromes and the total score in the trial group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of Hp eradication rates and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion: The alternate treatment with Chinese medicine prescriptions for refractory duodenal ulcer can improve the clinical symptoms of patients and the clinical effect.
