Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of the therapy of acupuncture combined with ginger-separated moxibustion on discogenic low back pain (DLBP) of cold-damp type. Methods:A total of 70 DLBP patients of cold-damp type were selected and divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. Patients in the two groups were given oral use of Celecoxib Capsules;patients in the control group were treated with acupuncture, and patients in the observation group were additionally given ginger- separated moxibustion based on the treatment of control group. Both groups were treated for six weeks. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated, and the pain degree, lumbar movement disorder, score of cold- damp syndrome and levels of serum tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results:The total effective rate was 94.29% in the observation group, higher than that of 71.43% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS),Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and cold-damp syndrome in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores of VAS, ODI and cold- damp syndrome in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of serum TNF-α and IL-6 in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above two levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of acupuncture combined with moxibustion on ginger has a definite therapeutic effect on DLBP of cold-damp type, which can relieve pain, improve lumbar function and inhibit inflammation.
