Abstract： Objective： To observe the curative effect of Chinese medicine point application combined with western medicine on senile Parkinson's disease (PD) complicated with functional constipation. Methods： A total of 80 cases of senile patients with PD complicated with functional constipation were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method， with 40 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with Chinese medicine point application combined with western medicine， and the control group was only treated with western medicine. Clinical effects and the recurrence rates were compared between the two groups. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) symptom scores and the scores of Patient Assessment of Constipation Quality of Life (PAC- QOL) were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results： The total clinical effective rate was 95.00% in the observation group and 77.50% in the control group，the difference being significant (P＜0.05). After treatment， each score of TCM symptoms in the two groups was decreased when compared with that before treatment (P＜0.05)，and each score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment， the scores of physical discomfort， worries and discomfort， psychosocial discomfort， and treatment satisfaction， and the total scores of PAC-QOL in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above four scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The recurrence rates in the observation group were lower than those in the control group after medicine withdrawal for 1 month and 3 months (P＜0.05). Conclusion： In the treatment of PD complicated with functional constipation， Chinese medicine point application combined with western medicine can further improve clinical effects，effectively relieve constipation symptom，enhance quality of life and reduce the recurrence rate of constipation.
