Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Huatan Xingshen Decoction combined with acupuncture on acute hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage (HCH). Methods : A total of 92 patients with acute HCH were selected and divided into the observation group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 46 cases in each group. The control group was treated with minimally invasive hematoma clearance in Department of Emergency, routine intracranial decompression, blood pressure lowering and acupuncture, and the observation group was additionally given Huatan Xingshen Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. The two groups were treated for two weeks. The clinical effects in both groups were evaluated; the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndrome scores , scores of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and Modified Rankin Scale (mRS), mean velocity (Vm), pulsitility index (PI), resistance index (RI) and levels of serum nerve growth factor (NGF), endothelin-1 (ET-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were compared treatment before and afterbetween the two groups;the incidence of adverse reactions in both groups was respectively counted. Results:The total effective rate was 89.13% in the observation group, higher than that of 71.74% in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores, and scores of NIHSS and mRS in both groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05); the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the Vm and PI in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and the RI was lower than that before treatment (P<0.05);the Vm and PI in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the RI was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the NGF levels in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and the levels of ET-1 and VEGF were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05);the NGF level in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the levels of ET-1 and VEGF were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). There was no significant difference being found in the comparison of incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of Huatan Xingshen Decoction combined with acupuncture has a definite curative effect on acute HCH with syndrome of wind-phlegm obstructing the collaterals, which can promote the recovery of nerve function and improve the parameters of cerebral hemodynamics.
