Abstract:Thyroid nodule, also known as goiter,is a common endocrine disease. The idea of “yang transforms into qi, while yin constitutes form” explains that the fundamental reason for the formation of thyroid nodules is the insufficiency of yang qi, which leads to qi stagnation, phlegm accumulation, and stasis obstruction, gradually forming pathological products such as phlegm and blood stasis accumulating in the neck. Under the guidance of the idea of "yang transforms into qi, while yin constitutes form", the treatment of thyroid nodules focuses on reinforcing yang qi, dissipating yin pathogens, and restoring the balance of yin and yang in the body. In recent years, acupuncture and moxibustion,as a safe and efficient external treatment method, has outstanding curative effects on the treatment of various types of nodules, abnormal masses and other excess syndromes, and the idea of “yang transforms into qi, while yin constitutes form” can be used as the guiding theory of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of thyroid nodules. This paper explores the treatment of thyroid nodules by acupuncture and moxibustion based on the theory of "yang transforms into qi, while yin constitutes form", in order to provide new ideas and methods for external treatment of thyroid nodules in Chinese medicine.
