Abstract：Objective：To observe the effect of the therapy of Bailing Capsules combined with auricular point seed- pressing on residual renal function (RRF) and complications in patients with end- stage renal disease (ESRD) on maintenance hemodialysis (MHD). Methods：A total of 232 ESRD patients as the study objects and divided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table method， with 116 cases in each group. The control group was treated with MHD and conventional treatment， and the observation group was additionally treated with Bailing Capsules combined with auricular point seed- pressing based on the treatment of the control group. The indexes of renal function， including blood urea nitrogen(BUN)， serum creatinine (SCr) and creatinine clearance (CCr)， nutritional status， including albumin (Alb)， prealbumin (PA) and hemoglobin (Hb)， and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores before and after treatment， and the clinical effects and complication rates after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results：After treatment，the total effective the was 91.38% in the observation group and 79.31% in the control group， the difference being significant (P＜ 0.05). After treatment，the levels of BUN and SCr in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)， and the CCr levels were increased when compared with those before treatment；the levels of BUN and SCr in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05)，and the CCr level was higher than that in the control group (P＜0.05). After treatment，the levels of Alb， PA and Hb in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P＜ 0.05)，and the above three levels in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P＜ 0.05). After treatment， the scores of TCM syndromes， such as fatigue and lack of strength， waist and knee aching and weakness， vexing heat in the five centers， and dry throat and dry mouth， were decreased in the two groups when compared with those before treatment (P＜0.05)，and the above scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P＜0.05). The incidence of complications was 6.03% in the observation group and 10.34% in the control group， there being no significant difference between the two groups (P＞0.05). Conclusion： The therapy of Bailing Capsules combined with auricular point seed- presing can effectively improve the renal function，clinical symptoms and nutritional status of ESRD patients on MHD，with relatively few complications.
