Clinical Study on Houpo Paiqi Mixture Combined with Western Medicine Therapy for High-Energy Fractures Complicated with Acute Gastrointestinal Dysfunction
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of Houpo Paiqi Mixture combined with western medicine therapy on high- energy fractures complicated with acute gastrointestinal dysfunction. Methods: A total of 90 cases of patients with high-energy fractures complicated with acute gastrointestinal dysfunction were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine western medicine treatment, and the treatment group was additionally treated with Houpo Paiqi Mixture based on the treatment of the control group. Clinical effects, the complete recovery time of bowel sounds, the first time of food intake, and the first defecation time were compared between the two groups. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, the scores of Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation Ⅱ (APACHE Ⅱ), and the levels of white blood cell count (WBC), C- reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), and lactate were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. The oxygenation indexes before treatment and after 24,48,and 72 hours of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 91.11% in the treatment group, higher than that of 73.33% in the control group(P<0.01);the complete recovery time of bowel sounds, the first time of food intake, and the first defecation time in the treatment group were significantly earlier than those in the control group (P<0.01). TCM syndrome scores, APACHE Ⅱscores, and the levels of WBC, CRP, PCT and lactate after treatment in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05),and TCM syndrome scores, APACHE Ⅱ scores, and the levels of WBC, CRP, PCT and lactate in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The oxygenation indexes after 24, 48, and 72 hours of treatment in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05) , and the oxygenation indexes after 24 , 48, and 72 hours of treatment in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: In the treatment of high-energy fractures complicated with acute gastrointestinal dysfunction,Houpo Paiqi Mixture combined with western medicine therapy has a definitecurative effect, can significantly improve gastrointestinal function and oxygenation indexes and inhibit inflammatory responses.
