Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of umbilical acupuncture therapy on acute lumbar sprain of qi stagnation and blood stasis type. Methods:A total of 60 cases of patients with acute lumbar sprain were selected and divided into the umbilical acupuncture group and the general acupuncture group according to the random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The ordinary acupuncture group was treated with ordinary acupuncture therapy, and the umbilical acupuncture group was treated with umbilical acupuncture therapy. The changes in the scores of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and lumbar mobility disorder were compared before and after treatment between the two groups, and the total effective rate of immediate pain relief was compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the scores of VAS and lumbar mobility disorder in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the above two scores in the umbilical acupuncture group were lower than those in the ordinary acupuncture group (P<0.05). The total effective rate of immediate pain relief was 93.3% in the umbilical acupuncture group and 86.7% in the ordinary acupuncture group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Umbilical acupuncture therapy can effectively improve the degree of pain and lumbar mobility in patients with acute lumbar sprain, with a good effect of immediate pain relief.
