Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of Shufeng Xuanfei Tongqiao Decoction combined with western medicine for acute secretary otitis media (ASOM) with wind-heat attacking the ears syndrome in children. Methods:A total of 108 cases of ASOM children with wind-heat attacking the ears syndrome were selected and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method,with 54 cases in each group. The control group was treated with western medicine,and the treatment group was treated with Shufeng Xuanfei Tongqiao Decoction based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 7 days. The clinical effects,traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores,air conduction threshold,and inflammatory indexes were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment,the total effective rate was 94.44% in the treatment group,higher than that of 81.48% in the control group,the difference being significant (P<0.05). The scores of aural fullness and stuffiness,earache,tinnitus,deafness,fear of wind and fever,nasal congestion,headache,and dry mouth in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment,and the scores of the above eight TCM syndrome scores in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The air conduction thresholds in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment,and the air conduction threshold in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group, differences being significant (P<0.05). The levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in serum in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment,and the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in serum in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group,differences being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:Shufeng Xuanfei Tongqiao Decoction combined with western medicine for ASOM children with wind-heat attacking the ears syndrome can effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms of children, reduce the inflammatory responses of the body,and improve audition levels.
