Abstract: Objective: To discuss the point selection rules of acupuncture and moxibustion as intervention for postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). Methods: The relevant literatures on acupuncture and moxibustion as intervention in treating POCD were retrieved from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), China Science Periodical Database (Wanfang), China Science and Technology Journal Database (VIP), China Biology Medicine disc (CBM) and PubMed from the establishment of database to August 10, 2022, and the point selection rules of acupuncture and moxibustion were summarized. Results: A total of 1 175 articles were retrieved; 61 articles were finally included after screening, including 63 acupuncture and moxibustion prescriptions and involving 32 acupuncture points, and the total times of point selection was 215. The top 10 acupuncture points in the frequency of selection were Neiguan (PC6),Baihui (DU20),Hegu (LI4),Zusanli (ST36),Shenting (DU24),Sanyinjiao (SP6), Yintang (EX- HN3), Shenmen (TF4), Sishencong (EX- HN1) and Taichong (LV3). The number of points selected along the governor vessel, pericardium channel, large intestine channel and stomach channel were the most. The point selection mainly covered the head and limbs. The most specific points cross point , connecting point (the eight confluence points) and yuan- source point. The results of correlation analysis showed that the acupuncture points with the highest comprehensive support were Neiguan (PC6), Baihui (DU20), Hegu (LI4), Zusanli (ST36) and Sanyinjiao (SP6). The commonly used acupuncture points combinations were Sanyinjiao (SP6)-Shenmen (TF4),Sishencong (EX-HN1)-Taichong (LV3)- Yintang (EX- HN3)- Shenting (DU24), Hegu (LI4), Zusanli (ST36), Neiguan (PC6), and Baihui (DU20). Conclusion: Acupuncture and moxibustion as intervention for POCD mostly starts from the treatment of the heart, brain, qi and blood, following the principle of local point selection and point selection along meridian, and paying attention to the application of specific points, especially the confluence points.
