Abstract:This paper summarizes and introduces the clinical experience of SHEN Jingyun,a renowned Chinese medicine practitioner, in treating frozen shoulders. SHEN Jingyun believes that yang qi insufficiency is the main cause of frozen shoulder. If the yang qi is abnormal,it will lead to the generation of cold, sinews malnutrition, poor circulation of channels and collaterals, stagnation of qi and blood, and over time,it will cause acute and painful contractions, leading to imbalance of the shoulder joint muscles and bones, and unfavorable flexion and extension, which are the key pathogenesis of this disease. In terms of treatment, the first thing to focus on is the overall situation, emphasizing the exuberance and decline of yang qi;secondly, the local area should be emphasized to dredge the channels and collaterals; the balance of the shoulder joint muscles and bones needs to be restored through differentiation and treatment of the structure. The original two-position adhesive separation method combined with tuina are applied to treat frozen shoulder, and the Guiding Technique in Eight Section Brocade was additionally applied after surgery to prevent re- adhesion. In short, based on the theory of "yin and yang as the principle, channels and collaterals as the objective, and sinews and bones as the axis", SHEN Jingyun follows the treatment principle of regulating yin and yang, treating sinews and bones, and distinguishing structures for treatment, and combines prevention, treatment and nourishment together to treat frozen shoulders both internally and externally, achieving excellent results.
