Observation on Curative Effect of Acupuncture at Eight Confluence Points Combined with Quetiapine for Schizophrenia and Its Effect on Oxidative Stress Factors and Lipid Metabolism
Abstract: Objective: To observe the curative effect of acupuncture at eight confluence points combined with Quetiapine for schizophrenia and its effect on oxidative stress factors and lipid metabolism. Methods: A total of 80 cases of patients with schizophrenia were selected as the research subjects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with Quetiapine, and the observation group was treated with Quetiapine combined with acupuncture at eight confluence points. The changes in Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), Clinical Global Impression (CGI), oxidative stress factors [superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH- Px), nitric oxide (NO), lipid peroxidation (LPO), and glutathione (GSH)], and levels of blood lipid metabolism [triglycerides (TG), total cholesterol (TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)] were compared before and after treatment in two groups. The incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the PANSS scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the PANSS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the CGI scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the CGI score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of SOD, GSH Px, and GSH in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the levels of NO and LPO were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the levels of SOD,GSH Px,and GSH in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05), and the levels of NO and LPO were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of TG, TC, and LDL- C in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the levels of HDL- C were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the levels of TG,TC,and LDL-C in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05),and the level of HDL- C was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 27.5% in the control group, and 5.0% in the observation group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: Acupuncture at eight confluence points combined with quetiapine has a significant clinical effect in treating schizophrenia, which can effectively improve oxidative stress responses, and regulate blood lipid metabolism with high safety.
