Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of Bufei Wenshen Decoction combined with catgut embedment in point on lung distension with syndrome of edema due to yang deficiency. Methods: A total of 96 patients with lung distension with syndrome of edema due to yang deficiency were selected as the study objects and randomly divided into the combination group and the control group, with 48 cases in each group. The control group was given conventional western medicine, and the combination group was additionally treated with Bufei Wenshen Decoction combined with catgut embedment in point based on the treatment of conventional western medicine. After two weeks of treatment, the clinical effects, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome (TCM) scores, dyspnea symptom degree by modified Medical Research Council (mMRC), quality of life by COPD Assessment Test (CAT), lung function, including forced vital capacity (FVC),forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1) and FEV1/ FVC, heart function by left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results:After treatment, the total effective rate was 93.75% in the combination group and 79.17% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the TCM syndrome scores,mMRC scores and CAT scores in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above three scores in the combination group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of FVC,FEV1 and FEV1 /FVC in the two groups were increased when compared when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above three lung function indexes in the combination group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the LVEF levels in the two groups were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05),and the LVEF level in the combination group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions was 8.33% in the combination group and 6.25% in the control group, there being no significant difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion:The therapy of Bufei Wenshen Decoction combined with catgut embedment in point for patients with lung distension with syndrome of edema due to yang deficiency, can further relieve symptoms, improve lung function and heart function, and enhance quality of life, with great safety.
