Abstract:Objective:To observe the clinical effect of the therapy of modified Guizhi Fuling Decoction combined with acupuncture on post-stroke urinary retention in senile patients. Methods:Using a random number table method, 98 elderly patients with post-stroke urinary retention were divided into a control group and a treatment group, with 49 cases in each group. The control group received acupuncture treatment, while the treatment group received acupuncture combined with modified Guizhi Fuling Decoction treatment. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, urination frequency, bladder residual urine volume, urodynamic indicators, and clinical treatment efficacy were compared between the two groups before and after treatment. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group was 97.96%,which was higher than the control group's 77.55% (P<0.05). The TCM syndrome scores, urination frequency, and bladder residual urine volume in both groups were decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the TCM syndrome scores, urination frequency, and bladder residual urine volume in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group after treatment (P<0.05). After treatment, the maximum bladder flow velocity (Qmax) and maximum bladder volume (Vmax) in both groups were increased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the Qmax and Vmax in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group after treatment (P< 0.05). Conclusion:Modified Guizhi Fuling Decoction combined with acupuncture has a definite therapeutic effect on senile post-stroke urinary retention, which can enhance the bladder urination function of patients and improve urodynamic.
