Abstract: Objective: To observe the effect of the therapy of acupuncture at Qiuxu Point (GB40) through Zhaohai Point (KI16) combined with motor-development massage on the motor development and muscle tonus of children with spastic cerebral palsy. Methods:A total of 90 children with spastic cerebral palsy were selected as the study subjects and divided into the control group and the observation group according to the random number table method,with 45 cases in each group. The two groups were given the motor-development massage,and the observation group was additionally treated with acupuncture at Qiuxu Point through Zhaohai Point. The clinical effects in the two groups were evaluated; the motor development, muscle tonus, motor function, activities of daily living, F wave amplitude and stimulus threshold were compared before and after treatment between the two groups. Results:The total effective rate was 88.89% in the observation group,higher than that of 71.11% in the control group,the difference being significant (P<0.05). After treatment,the scores of Peabody Development Motor Scales (PDMS-2), Gross Motor Function Measure 88 (GMFM88) and activities of daily living in the two groups were higher than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above three scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the scores of Modified Ashworth Scale in the two groups were lower than those before treatment (P<0.05), and the above score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). After treatment,the F wave amplitude in the two groups was lower than that before treatment, and the stimulus threshold was higher than that before treatment (P<0.05); the F wave amplitude in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the stimulus threshold was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The therapy of acupuncture at Qiuxu Point through Zhaohai Point combined with motor-development massage has a significant curative effect on children with spastic cerebral palsy, which can effectively improve the motor development,decrease the muscle tonus and enhance the activities of daily living.
