Clinical Study on Warming-Needle Moxibustion Combined with External Application with Wentong Ointment for Scapulohumeral Periarthritis of Cold-Damp Obstruction Type
Abstract: Objective: To observe the clinical effect of warming-needle moxibustion combined with external application with Wentong Ointment on scapulohumeral periarthritis of cold-damp obstruction type. Methods: A total of 98 cases of patients with scapulohumeral periarthritis of cold-damp obstruction type were divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the random number table method, with 49 cases in each group. The control group was treated with external application with Wentong Ointment, and the treatment group was additionally treated with warming-needle moxibustion based on the treatment of the control group. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. Simplified McGill Pain Questionnaire scores,Constant-Murley Shoulder Joint Function Scale scores and shoulder range of motion were compared between the two groups before and after treatment;the clinical effects and the incidence of adverse reactions in the two groups were evaluated. Results: After 4 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate was 91.84% in the treatment group, higher than that of 75.51% in the control group, the difference being significant (P<0.05). After 4 weeks of treatment, the scores of simplified McGill Pain Questionnaire in the two groups were decreased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), and the scores of Constant-Murley Shoulder Joint Function Scale (activities of daily living, pain, range of motion, muscle strength) and the degree of shoulder flexion, extension and abduction were increased when compared with those before treatment (P<0.05);the score of simplified McGill Pain Questionnaire in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05),and the scores of all dimensions of the Constant-Murley Shoulder Joint Function Scale and the degree of shoulder flexion, extension and abduction were higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). During treatment, there was no obvious adverse reaction in the two groups. Conclusion: Warming-needle moxibustion combined with external application with Wentong Ointment has a significant curative effect in the treatment of scapulohumeral periarthritis of cold-damp obstruction type, which can relieve the pain of patients, restore the shoulder joint function and increase the shoulder range of motion, with high safety.
